The Hunger Games is the Capitol‘s idea of entertainment. All twelve districts that surround the Capitol must send one boy and one girl to participate in a fight. There is only one rule: kill or be killed. Katniss volunteers to become to a fighter, or tribute, for District 12. She takes the place of her sister, Primrose. She feels as if she has just been sentenced to death. Will she keep her promise to Primrose and survive the games…?
I wanted to read this book for a long time but I was scared that it would be a bit too violent for me. When I finally started it, I thought: “This is basically a convoluted love story with a lot of fighting.” And, yes, it is. But now that I have finished the book I am hooked! The story is set in the future and the things that happen are really intriguing. You forget yourself and believe that things are actually real. All the characters in this book are very likable but I simply love Katniss. She is fearless, strong, independent and feisty. The way Suzanne Collins bewitches her to do the most amazing, stupid and rebellious things is utterly fantastic. This book is so addictively fabulous that I cannot say which part I like best. I absolutely loved this book so watch out for the next book review!
